Michael was born amidst the rolling cornfields of Iowa and his family soon migrated west. His childhood was spent exploring the high peaks of Colorado’s Rocky Mountains and trekking through the mossy forests of Washington State. All the while, he harbored an intense fascination with worlds of science fiction and fantasy, spending most of his spare time immersed in role-playing games, books, and movies.
A diversity of interests combined with a nomadic education at more than ten institutions provided Michael with a varied background in everything from photography, to computer science, to leadership studies. After graduating from the USC School of Cinematic Arts, Michael worked on TV shows, feature films, and music videos, before shifting focus to writing screenplays and maximizing his time in lands of imagination.
